The people behind the platform
Who would open a SaaS recruitment platform for the event and experience industry in the middle of a pandemic?? Robert Kenward, that’s who.
For those of you who know Robert, you’ll know that having worked in recruitment, events and experiences for over 20 years, he’s very vocal about how things need to improve for everyone in the recruitment journey: candidates, employers and recruiters.
If you don’t know Robert, he’s an MIA judge, ILEA board member, speaker, moderator, mentor and avid cheerleader for the travel, meetings, live events and experiential sectors, as well as a lucky husband and proud father to two young boys.
What you might not know, is his senior headhunting agency was decimated by COVID19, leaving him unable to work in the industry he adores, and as a Type 1 diabetic, employment options have been bleak.
Robert has spent the last seven months focusing on how he can help people within the sectors he loves, be it webinars giving advice on CV creation, video interviewing and LinkedIn profile advice, or pro bono outplacement services for agencies having to make people redundant.
Another initiative has seen him deliver over 300 individual 121 sessions for people within the event and experience sectors looking for support, guidance, insight and most of the time, just someone to listen.
The feedback and real-life stories from these 121 sessions and conversations with agency owners and senior stakeholders across the sectors, gave him the inspiration behind The Hub.
Robert says “I’ve been banging the drum for better recruitment practices and a more ethical, community approach to recruitment for years now, and this pandemic has given me time to think of a solution and get off my arse and do something about it. I’m so incredibly proud of what we’ve started and to have the support of such well-known, respected and credible community partners means we must be on the right path”.
Robert knows that 2022 will see the largest growth the sectors have ever experienced as everyone scales up, ready for the surge back.
The desire for live events and experiences is stronger than ever, and Robert hopes you’ll join him in being there for those who need us when things recover and move forward better and more diverse than ever.
